Money Mindset Tip: Wondering How To Prove Your Worth?
A few years ago, I had a strategy call with a prospective client.
Usually I love these calls, but this time the energy felt off.
There was a weird tension I couldn’t put my finger on.
After the call she sent me an email with a ton of questions—many of which we'd covered already.
Then came a follow-up call with the same questions.
I assumed I hadn’t done a good job of explaining and dutifully responded.
You know how I talk about making things fun and easy?
Well these exchanges were HARD WORK.
There was this push/pull of her clearly not liking my answers yet not letting me go, like she was trying to convince me of...something.
After each exchange, I asked myself, "Why do I feel so bad?"
It wasn't until I debriefed with my coach that I realized my mistake.
I’ll never forget my coach saying to me, “Not everyone is looking for transformation.”
It hit me right between the eyes.
We were coming to the table with completely different objectives:
I was offering this client transformation; she simply wanted her old job back.
It was a simple case of misalignment.
And it was never going to work. What she wanted was not what I was offering.
I see this dynamic play out all the time in people's careers…
People get all twisted up in chasing career opportunities (and relationships) that aren’t aligned.
Then they blame themselves when they’re not successful at forcing a solution that’s not a good fit anyway.
It’s not personal. It’s nothing to do with you. It’s just not the right fit.
What they want + what you offer = Easy Yes
One of my favorite money mindset tips is focusing on the Easy Yes’s.
It’s based on the idea that the best path to abundance is ease.
The Easy Yes formula is simple: find the intersection between what they want and how you can help them get it.
The right opportunities, people, and clients for you are EASY YES's. Because that intersection is clear. as. day.
Ignoring that intersection is setting yourself up for STRUGGLE. Because either your wants or their wants will not be met.
You don't have to convince employers to hire you. You don’t have to chase clients. You don't have to prove your worth to ANYONE. You definitely don't have to "sell yourself." (I truly loathe that concept).
And no, you don’t have to work harder. That’s a sign you’re not working at the intersection.
Please stop assuming what you want has to be hard work.
"Ok, caroline, I’ll bite. How do I focus on the Easy Yes’s?”
Step 1: Trust that the right people for YOU are out there, looking for an EXCUSE to say Yes. “You’re an Aquarius?! OMG, I’m an Aquarius.”
Step 2: Focus on speaking to the intersection of everyone’s wants/needs, including your own. It’s as simple as that.
Step 3: Remember that this intersection isn't always there. Not all opportunities or people are a good fit. Not everyone values the same things. Not everyone wants what you want (like transformation! 😂) That’s normal.
Don't chase the misalignments!
Easy No's pave the way to Easy Yes's.
Stop wasting your energy on trying to convince people that aren't ready for what you bring to the table today.
It rarely works and feels bad.
Money Mindset Tip: Look For the Easy Yes’s
Finding the right career opportunities gets to be EASY. Earning money gets to be EASY. Receiving abundance in all its forms gets to be…EASY.
A few weeks ago, a former client reached out and said she wanted to work together again.
In her first email she asked, “How much and where do I send the money?”
I was like, “Do you want to have a conversation first?”
She was like, “Send me the payment link.”
Easy yes. 😂
The same kind of career opportunities exist for you.
The first step is committing to this money mindset tip: focusing on the Easy Yes’s.
Do you equate success with hard work? What if the path to getting everything you wanted were a whole lot simpler?! What if earning money were EASY?
