My 2021 Goals
Yesterday I shared my 3 biggest failures in 2020 and what I learned from them.
Today I’m going to share my 3 biggest goals—at least the ones that I think will be most interesting to you.
I have 3 big areas of focus for 2021:
1. Continuing my professional networking course
Launching my online networking course was a big goal for 2020.
I’d intended to launch the course as self-study. It was only when I realized how long it was going to take to script, shoot, and edit the darn thing that I decided to try it as a live group coaching course. 🤷♀️
So we piloted it in October, not knowing if we’d ever do it again.
As it happens when you bring a bunch of talented, engaged, high-vibe people together, the results have exceeded my expectations.
One outcome I didn’t anticipate but that makes so much sense is how much people are craving community and benefiting from that affinity with others.
In almost every session someone says, “It’s so good to know I’m not alone,” or, “I thought it was just me.”
It’s so affirming to have that shared experience as we work towards a goal—working through challenges and creating opportunities, collectively celebrating progress together, and knowing there’s a whole world of people out there willing and able to support us.
Check out the details and grab your spot.
2. Doing well and doing Good
I’d always planned to build my business empire, and then shift to play a bigger role in the social and criminal justice issues I care about.
The biggest lesson of 2020 for me about doing Good is: why wait?
In 2020, the Caroline Adams Coaching community raised $11k+ for Feeding America as our first collective action. Thank you.
Personally, I dedicated a fair amount of time and energy to get out the vote and support social change.
In 2021, I’m bringing my passion and commitment to social change forward.
As a first step, I’ll donate 5% of everything I earn. It’s part of my vision for micro and macro impact:
Helping individuals improve their lives
Improving the systems that impact everyone’s lives
This is a natural extension of the work I already do, so it feels like the right next space to step into. And whether you invest in the networking course or Careers with Purpose coaching program, you’re a part of that impact, too.
From the beginning, I’ve worked with people to 1) Figure out their careers, and 2) Build out the vision for their life beyond work.
Yes, it’s about helping people do well in their career, but it’s also about helping them doing Good in the world.
For some, it’s building out their vision for a meaningful cause they’re passionate about. For others, it’s adding teaching, speaking, or writing (and sometimes coaching!) onto their core career to promote and empower others.
One theme from my clients last year was the role they wanted to play as women leaders in their industry. So many women wanted not just to lead but set an example for how to lead.
It feels right and good to run my business in a way that mirrors the work I do with my clients.
Monetary donations are just one small piece of the puzzle.
I’ll share more about what I’m doing personally and for the business in this space as it unfolds—I got big dreams.
3. Collaborating
I routinely fall in love with my clients (in a totally platonic, non-creepy way).
They’re so cool, and they’re doing such cool things. So I’m always thinking of win-win ways to collaborate with and/or hire them!
In 2020, we started Career Change Success Stories, a video series focused on stories of transformation.
I’ll continue sharing more of these stories in 2021.
If you’re considering a career change, upgrade, or pivot and want to know how others did it, send me questions you’d like me to ask future guests.
You may also know Sarah Hunt is co-leading my online professional networking course, offering her real world experience applying the techniques and bringing in her Emotional Intelligence expertise.
She’ll be staying on in 2021, and since we’re both maximizers (focused on excellence; transforming good to great), I anticipate some cool additions TBD.
I have some really fun, fledgling collaboration ideas for 2021, most of which the would-be collaborators don’t know about yet.
Let’s just say the potential partners include but are not limited to fellow coaches, start-up founders, and designers.
This, too, feels like a really natural and expansive area of growth. As an INTJ (and Aquarian), I tend to want to go my own way. But lately I’ve been called to lean into the ease and possibility that comes with the process of co-creating with others.
Stay tuned!
